Photographer!

K - We have a photographer! We gave our deposit check to Jo Griggs of Rêve Photography today. She is absolutely fabulous and just starting out on her own as a photographer. Everyone should check out her Facebook page!

K - Okay. You haven’t gotten a real Krista-Steven wedding update in a while. The reason? It fell apart. Okay that’s being really dramatic. But we (and by we, I mean my mom and Steven wholeheartedly agreed) decided that the barn would be way more work than we have time to put in. Steven will be helping with summer school in town this summer, and I will be doing God knows what, so the idea of cleaning up a lot of land etc. proved to be too much for us. (Or so my mom and Steven thought…) So this left us just over 6 months before the date with NO VENUE. Cue heart attack. NOTHING is available. And Steven’s church was not too keen on our hippie med school student officiate (understandably.) But we have a church! Or at least we will once mom and I put the deposit down Monday morning. It is downtown, so there will be some driving, but it is totally worth it. It is the First Unitarian Church of Memphis, also known as Church of the River. See that view out those windows? That will be the backdrop for our ceremony. Absolutely gorgeous. And they are all about acceptance and people doing their own thing religiously, so they could not care less about our hippie med school student officiate! So excited. And we are back on track!

What an amazing idea this is, i hate losing my drink or mistaking it for somebody elses! Cute brown paper tags add a lovely touch to any wedding and solve this problem!

Always a good idea, and such an obviously easy DIY!

K - So cute! Definitely doing this if time allows. (We are almost to the 6 month mark so that qualification has to be added to the end of every idea now!)

K - We took Save the Date photos! Or Engagement photos… or something… We never got around to holding signs and stuff for the Save the Dates and it’s been kind of a long time since we got engaged, so I’m not entirely sure what they are but what better excuse for a photo shoot than an impending wedding?

K - I was researching sunset times to decide exactly when the ceremony should happen and found out we are getting married on “Sweetest Day.” It is the literal incarnation of what a lot of people say Valentine’s day is. It was created by candy companies as an ”occasion which offers all of us an opportunity to remember the sick, aged and orphaned, but also friends, relatives and associates whose helpfulness and kindness we have enjoyed.” Yet somehow, it seems to have not made it past the northeast and Great Lakes area. Imagine that…
